Review: VRC Insurance Systems

If you’re like me, when you hear the name VRC it rings a bell, but you can’t quite remember who they are. VRC has been the "quiet" agency management system company for some time now. But just because they’re quiet doesn’t mean you should ignore what they have to offer. I recently visited their offices in Westlake Village, Calif. (just north of Los Angeles) to learn more about the company and their main product: Velocity.

VRC Insurance Systems was founded in 1986 as Virtual Research Corporation, a provider of vertical application packages. VRC embraced the emerging Open Systems and Relational Database technologies, which eventually evolved into their first packaged product for the insurance industry: DIAS, a solution for insurance agents, brokers, and wholesalers. This platform was enhanced and renamed to Velocity when a fully Web-deployable version of the system was created. The name Velocity was chosen to convey the software’s ability to keep up with heavy workflow demands and to evolve quickly to meet clients’ changing needs. Velocity 10 was released in early 2008.
